Nasir El-Rufai, the former Governor of Kaduna State, recently criticized the All Progressives Congress (APC) for failing to fulfill its promises, which led to a public disagreement with the Presidency. Specifically, El-Rufai stated that he no longer recognizes the APC, citing that no party organ has met in two years, and questioning whether the party is now a “one-man show” or even a “zero-man show”.
He also expressed concerns about the quality of leadership in Nigeria, blaming “illiterates, semi-illiterates, and cunning people” for the country’s democratic struggles. El-Rufai urged opposition parties to form a broad coalition to challenge the ruling party and protect democracy.
The Presidency responded to El-Rufai’s comments, with Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser to President Tinubu, accusing El-Rufai of plotting to unseat the government he helped form. Bwala questioned whether El-Rufai would have made the same remarks if he were part of the administration.
