Abia PDP Suffers as Ohafia LGA Chapter Decamps to APC with Chief Kelvin Jumbo
Umuahia – In a significant blow to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abia State, the Ohafia Local Government Area (LGA) chapter of Igurube Movement has defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC). The event took place at Abiriba in Ohafia LGA, where Chief Kelvin Jumbo led the members in a ceremony attended by prominent APC and PDP members.
Senator Orji Uzoh Kalu, representing Abia North Senatorial Zone, and the APC state chairman were among the dignitaries who received the decamping members. Chief Kelvin Jumbo praised the President Tinubu-led administration’s efforts in the country, citing the numerous projects implemented in the Senatorial Zone by Senator Kalu as the primary reason for their defection.
This development is a substantial setback for the PDP in Abia State, which has been grappling with internal conflicts and defections. The party has been working to consolidate its base and strengthen its position ahead of future elections. However, this latest defection is likely to weaken the party’s grip on the state.
The APC, on the other hand, is expected to capitalize on this development, leveraging the influence of Senator Kalu and the popularity of the President Tinubu-led administration to expand its base in Abia State. As the political landscape continues to evolve, it remains to be seen how this defection will impact the fortunes of both parties in the state.
